Is this a DIY job? Or would I have to get it done at a dealership/shop ? When I had my timing belt changed, the dealer didn't change the pump cause they said "it was still good"

Have the dealer do it...
its allot of labor..

if you are very mechinally inclined you can try it yourself but if you screw up its a pain to fix..

Plus if you do timing belt they will do the water pump for a very little extra since they will have everything apart for timing anyways..

it is a bullshit because it is recommend to replace it at same time, save you labor time/money. (same procedure, that they have to take out timing belt).

so when you replace the water pump, you will have to pay more for the labor.

When I called all the local toyota dealerships for quotes on the timing belt and water pump replacement, one dealership told me that they dont replace the water pump unless if its bad. They told me it doesnt make sense. I asked what if i want you to replace it regardless and they just said they would have to check it out first. Then the other one said they agree that I should do them at the same time. They were also like 75 bucks cheaper so i guess Ill be taking it to them.
