For all those with Tokico/Eibach/Tein struts and springs. Around how much did you guys pay for them including installation for those who didn't do it themselves. I'm looking to drop mine in this coming spring finally and I definetly need struts. I can't have anyone in the rear seats w/o rubbing while making turns and speed bumps. Thanks to all. Bryan

If I recall correctly I paid about $330 for the Tokico's, $160 for the TEIN's, and about $180 for installation.

Correct. EDFC isn't available for the Solara base.

* Uppermount / EDFC compatibility
TEIN SUPER STREET DAMPER comes in two different kits; with or without uppermount (except some models). Pillowball uppermount with camber angle adjustment system is adopted for strut type (Ft), and reinforced rubber uppermount is used for strut (Rr), wishbone, and multi-link types. Kit with uppermount is fully compatible with EDFC. Kit without uppermount uses OE uppermount, therefore its pricing is very reasonable and affordable.
*Please note that both uppermounts and shock absorbers are not interchangeable between two different kits.

None of the kits come with the uppermount so we use the OEM. Kind of the weak link on our suspension area if we go crazy on the driving. I've heard that it DOES SUCK to change the settings on the rear coilovers since you almost need to practically redoing the rear suspension installation to just reach the setting controls. Probably ready to take a level up and head back to the shop to stiffen the suspension more but I'll wait until I get a whiteline FSB in my hands. I have about 2-3K of roadwear on my Tien SS coilovers and I can say is, they rock. Had the install shop drop it to 1.5" as I told them anywhere from 1.5" to 1.75" ish so yea. I could tell, if I lowered it anymore, my mudguards would be torn off if I take a speed bump fast or hit some crap on the freeway.(Arizona highways are nitorious for debris hazards). Just don't regret on simple upgrade suspensions. There are a few ppl here that have done the strut/spring upgrades then went Coilovers afterwards. Another 500-700 more of savings would be worth the for superior suspension setups, coilovers.

Tien SS good for street/minor autocross(but still can be good enough for hard) Though ultimately from many here, the JIC coilovers, FLT2?(I think) are the topline coilovers for our Solaras and would rock mostly in heavy racing. Daily driving is more comprimised though with JICs, Tiens have a nicer edge for it.

With the Teins you can run the "EDFC" or "Electronic Dampening Force Controller" which allows you to make instantaneous changes to the ride hight, dampening force etc. from the drivers seat. This way when you come up to the street light and wind up next to that Honda Civic reving its engine taunting you, you will only have to hit a button or two to be ready to blow his freakin' doors off (without the EDFC you have to get out of the car and adjust it all by hand)!
