Kind of a stupid question, but I was wondering how many miles/km does the 1MZ-FE last? did toyota do a test to see how much mileage it takes for the motor to totally break down? Hell, even at 120 000 km, my motor still runs very smooth.

it really depends on how the care is treated and cared for and city vs. highway miles seem to be another factor, but it's just like any other car, except that toyota makes great engines, some camrys have run till near 300K miles!

theres this one guy from TN that had a 94 camry v6 that had over...get this....425,000miles!!!!!!!!

He travels across country for work or something, putting out about 70,000 a year I think, but he did post a pic of the odo to prove it. Thats crazy. And the only thing he changed was the usual thigns, strut, belts, blah, blah, blah.

Now thats quality you can depend on to keep you ' moving forward"

I'd say close to 200K ball park, That guy at TN is a abnormal cus he travels highways a lot, and during highway driving your really not stressing your other parts, your retain constant speeds, and your braking, suspension and etc are just there...What i mean to say is that cars that only travel highways are more reliable than those that only tragel highways. So depending on your configuration..I'm expecting my 1mz to last me thru 190 miles. On the other hand, i expect my 5sfe to last me at least 1/4 million miles.

Wow, don't know how you guys can keep a car that long. My last 3 cars (02 Mustang GT, 03 Maxima SE, 2000 Tacoma) I ditched before I put 10K on them. Get bored too easily....

Well You can expect the 5s-fe to last long. I have a 94 Camry 5spd and its at 275k miles and running strong.

I recently changed a Motor Mount but thats about it. I change the oil about every 2500 miles.

I expect the engine to last to about 500k at least as long as i keep up on the maintiance. The next thing i just need to do it Timing belt and water pump. The clutch was just changed about 20k miles ago.

My 02 Solara has 62k miles at the moment and is still running like the day i bought it. If you know how to maintian your car well you shouldn't have any problems.

Also my old 1992 4runner v6 had 255k miles before we blew a headgasket. But the 4 runner was very poorly maintian by the previous owner we bought it from. We bought it with 215k miles on it and i did everything i could to get it running like new but it never did. I bought this car for only $500 bucks so what can i expect.... Ended up selling this car for $1800 with a blown head gasket.

Here's all you need to know... It's a Toyota! Of course it lasts long! If you own a Toyota, it DEFINTELY lasts! Keep trying, Ford and Kia/Hyundai... You'll get it one day.

I'm running a '99 Solara SLE V6 automatic with 111,000 miles (bought it with 64K on it). It seems to run fine. You still have to do the normal maintenance stuff. The only thing that I have found at this point is a metallic rattle in the front passenger side that I am attributing to a worn sway bar bushing. I'm getting it looked at to see if this is the problem but it is not an expensive thing to replace. The only other thing that I ran into was something that I made a posting about earlier and that was moisture in the oil. That turned out to be a plugged PCV valve which is only a $2-$3 part. Stuff like this is something that if proactivly checked or changed would allow your car to last thousands of miles longer than just hopping in and turning the key;

I would be really surprised to hear of someone having to have an engine tore down and rebuilt because it was anywhere bad before 200,000 miles, if they did routine maintenance.

Its a little thing called car payments! When i paid off my ES i was happy, then the camry and was really happy (4K on the solara left). I buy toyota's cus i know when the payments are over, the car still runs. Yeah, i may get bored with my cars, but i'm more appreciative of the other financial opportunities a paid off car gives.

This is a smart man. Why constantly have a car payment when you have a perfectly good car??? Save the money or buy other things you want/need!

This is true of any car but especially of honda and toyota.

Change the oil regularly and take proper care of and the car will last you a couple of times longer then you will be willing to keep it.
