daymn.....2 posts....it's all good though, but back to the subject....it shouldn't hurt to change from conventional oil to synthetic. Not too sure about the leaks though.

My recent service, I switched from the OEM oil Toyota used to pour into my engine is now Mobil 1 Full Syn. 5w30 Grade with a TRD oil filter. If u look well, there was a nice thread about certain syn oils and filters. Syn and a good oil filter are good ways to semi-avoid oil leaks. U can be luckie or not luckie. I already had my oilpan fixed up under warrenty from leaking and i'm above the 70K mark now.

Please note: The tutorials section is for tutorials only

Stick with regular oil, just make sure to do them every 3k miles

I use Royal Purple synthetic oil, its very good oil and no complaints so far. The crazy thing is that the oil actually is purpie

If your seals are already bad no matter what its gonna leak. Taken that its only at 80K you should be fine. Go for it. Fully synthetic, either Mobil 1, Amsoil, or Royal Purple. I would recommend Mobil 1 since a lot of places carry it and a OEM Toyota Oil Filter will do.

Yeah shouldn't be a problem. . . He is only saying it may leak because of different additives and a totally different type of oil may make the seals not use to it so it might end up cracking but that is only with cars really old. . . My friend with 100K changed to synthetic and nothing happen to him. . . I am not saying nothing will happen to you but you have a high chance that nothing will
