Whats my car worth?

Whats my car worth?

Postby methyl mike » Fri Jan 06, 2006 9:04 pm

Well I'm possibly moving on and getting a new car at some point, gauging interest and seeing what my car may be worth. She's a 99 SE, Red with dark grey leather interior, 145,000K miles, 5 spd manual and all that jazz. Interior is in good shape minus the floormats, I need to replace those, and there is a cigarette burn hole in the middle of the rear seat I may fix, otherwise the interior is acually in really good shape. Have an aftermarket clarion deck in there, touchscreen, and I just got a new TRD shifter. The exterior is in good shape minus the passenger side mirror, I need to buff off some white paint scuffs, the front end needs some work, front grill has most of the chrome flaked off on the driver side, a few paint chips missing from rocks and such, normal wear I would imagine for a car with so many miles. All in all she looks really good clean and polished, I have 18in 5zigen copse rims and 225 40 kumho 712's on there, and a Evo stage2 catback, and trd air filter. The car was factory TRD, so has a lowered TRD suspension etc. She handles GREAT, runs great and is in actually damn good shape. I need to get the clutch replaced in the next 5k which I will do, so im curious, if I sell the car NOW, what might it be worth, and if I fix all the small problems, what might it be worth then?

your car depreciates from the mods, im sure you know that. But if your selling dont use KBB, i believe NADA gives you a higher price. Part the car then sell it stock.

if you fix everything, then it should worth about as much as blue book. if you dont fix, my guess is about 5 or 6000 dollars. have you replace timing belt and water pump?

do you have TRD aero kit? that should boost your sell a bit.

I'd part it out and then sell, you'll get more money that way.

Woohoo KBB gave me a retail of 8800.00, so assuming I get a fewthings fixed its worth about that, however I have that TRD suspension on it, what am I supposed to do with it? If I return the car to stock, how stock should it be? Of cours the exhuast would go and the deck, should I do the rims as well or leave them on? And the suspension? Im thinking before I part it I'll put it on ebay in a couple months and see if it sells, its rare I mean you dont see many 5 speed v6 red TRD's out there with leather moonroof spoiler etc. My baby has everything, its just time for her to go :(

What color are the 5Zrs? I'm in the market for 18" hyper 5zrs, but pending price I might take those off your hands, or trade you cash + stock 16" wheels (not the TRD wheels).

If it's a factory TRD Solara, then the suspension *is* stock.

I recently put my Solara on AutoTrader.com just to see if I'd get any nibbles. Only got one call and this is a beautiful, clean car with low miles. When you look at the bids on Ebay, it's almost insulting. Nobody seems to want to pay anything near what they may be worth for them on there--with or without mods. On the other hand, Carmax lists better prices, but they have salesmen that know how to make it happen, too.

So basically parting the car out and selling it totally stock is the best way right? I have a funny feeling Im going to end up using it as a trade in, I know I'll get less but if you think about it, totally stock it will only appeal to old people, who are the predominant owners of these cars anyway, and no way will some old geezer buy a car with this many miles, even though (clutch aside) it runs absolutely perfect. What a pain in the ass! Ah well she's served me well, I really can't comlain. 2 years and 50,000 miles and all I've ever had to do was change the brake pads and do the oil every 3k, I've never once had one single thing go wrong with this car.

Amen, you have to understand people these days want everything for the cheapest price possible, you have to expect you get less than what you really want, otherwise you'll be very dissapointed and may even ruin an opportunity to sell.
