Stock talk about the Generation 1 and 1.5 Toyota Solara which were produced from 1999 to 2003.

Question?

Question?

Postby Jai_Jai_Binks » Tue Jan 28, 2003 12:30 pm

When I bought my 2001 solara, I did not opt for the factory alarm system (RS300, i think that was what the dealership was selling to me). I did get the factory remotes with lock+unlock+panic functions (doh! ie. keyless entry). Anyhow, from a transaction on ebay, the seller gave me a free remote that has four buttons (lock+unlock+panic+trunk release). I will take this to the dealership to get it programmed...however, IS IT programable since all I have is keyless entry?? Any thoughts.....

It depends. If you have the same remote transmitter as the factory keyless, that shouldn't be a problem. I don't remember if the different keyfobs work different frequencies. Sounds like they gave you a keyless entry from a newer Toyota or Avalon.

you need a trunk release selenoid. good luck on that if you're gettin' it installed at the dealership. may cost anywhere from $100-$250 MAYBE. . .
