k&n drop in filter

k&n drop in filter

Postby Eddiman » Fri Jan 24, 2003 11:51 am

I just got my k&n filter and it cost me like 40bux. But one problem the little hinges on the air box do not slip in so there is a little gap. Am I doing something wrong? do i need to hit the box so it can sit in or what? Cause i know with a slightly open air box will make more noise

Turn the drop-in filter right side up!

I don't know... I'm not trying to be funny, but why wouldn't the hinges clamp on?

I have the TRD drop-in, and didn't have any problems with the hinges.

okay i took out the k&n on my 2002 solara and put in the stock airfilter. Okay this is my problem, the hinges will clamp but there is a gap on the left end of the air box. It just seems like it just will not fit i have tried fliping it and still nothing, I think i will return it or just keep it and try to get it to fit, so i guess i will go with the stock air fliter. any advice to make it work let me know someone...anyone ? :(

I have the right part. I know that, but the lil hinges on the left side of the airbox that keeps the box sealed doesnt not close, i can get the metal clamps on but not the lil hinges on the left side..im thinking i should take it to the dealership for them to do it...any other suggestions? should i just get the trd drop in?

i don't think there's THAT much of a difference in hp, if there is any significant gains. just jiggle that bad-boy on there and force them clips on! take your aggravations out on it. sometimes i get a hard time with even the stock air filter!?!

yeah, i bet it's not the filter, but the housing. you need to get the cover on just right in order for it to close properly.
