I am looking for a used Solara. I have read somewhere that 99 and 2004 get suspenssion problem, 2000 and 2002 get some body problem. Should I try the 2001 or 2003?

Thank you inadvanced,

He meant that if the guy/girl decides to buy an 02-03, to swap/remove the 02-03 tailights and put in the 99-01 tail lights.

Some ppl just like the 99-01 tail lights better... thats all he was saying... read his post again CAREFULLY

If you're patient and do your homework, you will get a good deal. If you like the modified look, e.g. lowered, body kit, etc., it'll be cheaper to buy one that's already done. The appearance difference can be dramatic. This is before and after on my 2002 SLE.

The only problem I've heard of is front strut mounts, and it doesn't happen with all of them. These are high-quality automobiles.

^^Thats a nice Change!

They only supspension problem I had with my 99 solara was the front strut bearings. You will hear a clunking sound up front when you hit bumps. Thats how you will know if they are bad. The mechanic told me that he generally sees them all go bad in every camry and solara between 97 to 99. He said in 00 that toyota fixed the problem. He put the newer bearing in and its fine. It didnt cost that much so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Good luck on your hunt.

gsolara:

Solaras aren't screaming fast, that's for sure, but they're not so slow either. Either way they are far from being "a piece of crap." They do what they were designed to do, and they do it well. Nice looking, quiet, comfortable and low-maintenance.

Didn't you know it was not a screamer when you bought it, or did you buy it without driving it? Seems like that's the real reason for your anger. You just wish you would have bought a faster car and you're pissed off at yourself. Don't take it out on the car, man. Funny how anger makes people sound ignorant.

G'day.

well then...if the solara is so crappy, you were dumb enough to mod it, let alone purchase a solara weren't you?
