As many of you know, I have been looking around to get a new clutch for my ride after my ugly experience with ACT's. While researching I came across South Bend so I gave them a call. I only know of 1 person (toy4x4boy) that has this clutch and so far he seems to enjoy it, however, it's only an OEM replacement. I called South Bend and told them I was interested in their product but I had never heard of them. So after going over the product info and all, their street version Stage 3/4 is only $350 + shipping, we are talking about over 400 lb of torque, which is pretty good I think.

Anyway, I bought it and it should arrive sometime next week, but I was asking the guy that if I like it and if in fact it is as good as they claim I wouldn't mind advertising it here as long as he can give you guys a good discount. He said that if at least 10 of you are interested he'd do a GB, how much? not sure yet but I'm sure we can negotiate. How much do I get out of this? not a damn thing, but eventually I'd like to get sponsorship from them and maybe drag some of you along with me, who knows.

I told them that I would only do the advertising pending on satisfaction and performance results, and he was confident I'd be happy.... I know right now Will (Wiz2) is waiting for me to get this on so he can decide what clutch to get.

So after reading all this, I'd like to know how many of you would be interested in a Group Buy (again, pending satisfaction and performance results).

You can check out their website at: http://www.dxdracingclutches.com/home.html

Thanks for reading this long msg and as soon as I get this installed I'll let you guys know how it goes, thanks!

If and when I need a clutch upgrade, I'll definitely look into it. I'd obviously like to see how you feel about it and what not first.

I'm going to be spraying my car son, does this mean I'll need to upgrade my clutch anyhow? at least to a stage one or something?

oh that kind of spraying.... if that is the case, I'd say he'll need to upgrade the clutch, that is the only reason why I'm upgrading mine, because the stock clutch can't keep up with my SC.

I was hoping there would be more people interested but I can understand not that many people know about South Bend so it's all groovy... and i know you are Will, but let me get it installed 1st so I let you know how it goes and possibly get you a deal too (if it's worth it). As always, you know i'm your guinea pig LOL

Keep us updated! I usually go with a name I've heard before and I've never heard of South Bend. So right now, I'm leaning toward a Clutchmasters Stage III. I've heard of them and the have a good track record. That doesn't mean I won't consider South Bend. I just need more info.
Thanks!

Damn, wish I would have known about this before I bought my spec 2+. Oh well, I ended up with one damn good clutch, so I'm happy. Getting used to the flywheel is the hardest part.

The South Bend clutch I have is a step up from OEM, it uses the same DXD pressure plate as the clutch you got that1mexguy but it does use a stock clutch disc. And yes, I love it so far. Took a little while to get used to (it engages much quicker) but it grabs awesome, no slippage, full throtte in 1st gear and a quick shift to second produces traction issues unlike my stock clutch which would slip a little till it engaged fully. I expected the clutch pedal to be a little stiffer but to my surprise it is MUCH lighter! Reason I went with this clutch is it gets great reviews on horsepowerfreaks.com and it was on sale for about $190 shipped to my door! Bottom line is I highly recommend South Bend and have no regrets what so ever.

Thanks!

I have that clutchmasters Stage III, and I like it, but it makes a scraping noise on engagement. I was told by a technician that it might be "Kevlar chatter" because the Stage III has more Kevlar.

In hindsight I wish I had gotten the Stage II because maybe I wouldn't have that sound because their stage II doesn't have as much Kevlar.

But, if you get it, let me know how it works out.

I saw the Fidanza clutch, but I have not heard of anyone with that. I would guess that it would work perfectly with the Fidanza flywheel, which I have as well. Their stage I clutch sounds awesome.

Ah, I'm glad you mentioned that... I also ordered the Fidanza flywheel and it arrived Friday so I'll be able to let you guys know how that works out. As toy4x4boy mentioned, South Bend has great reviews for other rides but nothing on Camry/Solaras so I figured I'd be the guinea pig...well sort of, toy4x4boy beat me to it LOL
