Another Wheel Offset Question

Another Wheel Offset Question

Postby Solorange » Thu Feb 02, 2006 11:00 pm

IndigoSolara I found your tutorial http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php? ... eel+offset

But I just wanted to verifiy with you guys if this will work and how you think it will look. Im looking at a 17X7 wheel and on the tutorial is says 45 or lower. The offset for these wheels im looking at has a 38mm offset. Obviously 38 is lower than 45, but is it possible that its too low? And will it look right? Im just wondering cause thats a big difference between 38 and 45. Thanks in advance.

I have 17X7 mb motoring fives and the offset is 38s. They fit fine on the car, according to the tutorial <45 sits further out. You shouldn't have any problems

Could any of you put a pic with this set up, cuz that's something i'm looking at. Also, what size are your tires? I'm thinking of 225/45or50/17 i dont remember which gives you closer to stock diameter.

Thanks

You should be fine with +38 offset on 7" wide wheels. The lower the offset is the father it sits out.

You should use 225/45/17 or 225/50/17 tires. You shouldn't have any rubbing..

I had a set of 17"x7 wheels with a 30 offset and it sat fine on the solara.

Thanks for all your input. Just wanted to make sure before i make any decisions. Im planning on going with the 225/45 tires. If I get 18's Id also get a 45 tire. I think 40's are easier to blow out in pot hole areas.

If that wheel comes in a 38 offset, but I can get it in a 40 offset, would that be better?

What is the width of the rim you are getting 7.5"??? If its 7.5"" you should get the +38offset. It would sit and look more flush to the fenders.and you shouldn't have any rubbing at all since you'll be running 225 series tires...

This rim is 7inches wide and it comes with a 38mm and 40mm offset

Also this rim comes in a 8inch wide application with a 35mm and 40mm offset. I know if I get the 8 inch wide one I need to get a 40mm offset.
