Yeah, take all the little green condoms off all the blubs and put them back in. It won't be super white, but it'll be white like stock headlights.

Dash Lights

Postby PXLpainter » Tue Feb 07, 2006 11:55 pm

So how about the green glow in the radio and heater control LCD panels as well? Same green condom thingy there too or is that inaccessible (SP)?

Thanks - Jeff

All those are LED's. There is a tutorial on toyotanation on how to change the radio LED's.

LED Swap -

Postby PXLpainter » Wed Feb 08, 2006 12:20 am

Kewl - thanks for the tip!

For those of you who want a direct link (may have to reg first), here's the DIY:

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t97347.html

CAUTION: Lots of work! (and patience!!)

Might be a fun weekend job though. I think I'd rather go all blue instead of red LEDs though - personal pref. ;)

ok see if you guys can answer this......i got a BLACK solara and would like to change all the nasty green....now red is not a color that appeals to me so obviously if i dont like it red ill like it blue:).....now no one seems to have a good way to make it blue...i.e. it always fades or is a odd color....now white is also a possibility.....so what should i do?

any way to actually make them blue without it looking retarded:)

^^lilm--
LED's have the best color, period. Blue is blue, white is white, red is red, etc. Surface mount is the way to go for these projects, not 5mm's.

Will probably get white LED for the guages and the HVAC and take apart the lil buttons for the HVAC and change it to blue LED or white.

Only thing that scares me is the Red near the redline... I wont always remember it... So be kind of tricky. Wonder how the Audi's did theirs.

wow i didnt know this old of a thread was brought back up. yea the lights in the hvac and radio are leds. im not gonna change the hvac since it dosent bother me tht much and i changed my cd player. btw...for all tht are goin blue deff use leds for lighting. the blue blubs just seem to give off a turqiouse color. the red looks great in either led or blub tho. heres a pic of how my interior looks now.
