Aftermarket radiator and fans.........

Well as some of you know and some of you don't know when i wrecked my car it was brought back to life and fixed like brand new.
Now they had bought me a new radiator cause mine was like out of shape and now i was changin' my oil and notice alot of red near the bottom of the car, and went to investigate. :-?
Well i found out that there was 2 leak in the radiator both front and back and right and left on both sides. :(
Well no i'm lookin' into a new radiator i know which one i'm gettin', Grege helped me find out the place.
I also know what size of fan i'm goin' to be usin'; 14" . :D
Cause the radiator length in 29 so half of it is 14.5 so 14 will work best.
I was lookin' around for 14" fans i found a couple of good prices.
But anyways my question is am i suppose to get the fans wit of wit out thermostat?????
Also can't i splice the OEM harness to the new radiator fan to work?????
Any thoughts would help.
Thanks.

I'd check with Rizal. He used some low profile fans made for the Eclipse. I know they did do some re-wiring, but I really don't know the details.

The thermostat is up to you. . . I know some people have their fans running all the time and yes it does take longer to warm but it will keep your car cooler. . . That is only necessary if you're boosted. . . If you are not boosted than you can get the one with themostat and it will turn on when it the coolant temp is hot enough

fans

Postby trd4life » Fri Feb 10, 2006 1:14 pm

i just installed the flex-a-lite fans on my solara. No need for the thermostat. I just spliced in the factory harness plug and was good to go. the flex-a-lite fans look badass! I got the red ones so they match my engine bay really well.

Just a fyi from my celica days: I just used to unplug the relay/harness and that gave way to fans being on all the time (houston summers). If you wanted it to be a therostat fan in the future, you just have to plug the harness back in.

I think he meant that on his celica, there was a separate harness which connected to the thermostat. If it was disconnected, the fans would run all of the time. When you plug the thermostat back it, then the fans turn on based on engine temp

^^^^
Oh, ok.
Well wit the OEM fans do they have a thermostat in the fans????
Cause i really don't want to buy some fans that have a thermostat or not when i don't really need it.
So should i get fans wit or wit out thermostat built in the fans.
I think all i'm goin' to do to the Solara later is rims and lower it and maybe CP-e intake and headers and Y-pipe.
Just goin't to keep it N/A.

^^ Exactly, just wanted to point out another option (depending on how good you are with your wiring techniques)...think of it like our gray plug for drl's, unplug it to make the fans run all the time, plug it back in and it becomes thermostat fans!!!!

Oh, ok
Well the fans plug is only 1 which is the grey one wit 2 wires comin' from it.
I thought that was the power wire and the thermo wire too??????
