Body Kit Sealant?

Body Kit Sealant?

Postby badjura » Fri Feb 10, 2006 3:35 pm

OK, anybody know if there is some kind of sealant I can put between (in the crack) the body kit and the body of the car? With all this damn rain and puddles, and the water getting in there, the side skirts keep sagging. 5lbs tape helped before the last month of rain. thx guys

Just have it molded to the car, easy but an expensive fix.

I'm hoping to do that but I gotta find out how much it is.

I'm definitely lookin for something like this too. My front valences are sagging and I dont want to take them off and put a stronger tape on just for it to happen again...

^im surprised your having those probs flash.... you got the Gen 1 front lips... hmmm

but hey front lips are easier to deal with than the side skirts comin off... overall just take off all the 3m and clean the surface reeeeeal good along with the backside of the lip kit... helps to do it in the summer sun

^man that girl is fine.

i had issues with my gen1 front lips on my 1.5, i took them off, cleaned both them and the car, used 3m, and never looked back. ...plus im in chicago, lots of rain, slush, wind, whores....etc...

oops, didnt mean to put that last comment in there.

I did however, have to really try and shape the valance when putting it on to insure a proper fit. Now there is no gap.

I think you meant Gen1.5 trd lips on your Gen 1 solara... thats because the Gen 1.5 has a sharper nose (middle part of bumper that protrudes forward)... but yeah lots of people having that trouble with gaps

The black strip on the front and rear valances of the Corolla S is rubber, its not sealant......the valances on the Corolla S are held on by clips and clips along with screws for the sideskirts.

Are you all doing the right steps in installing your kits. Do you clean the underside and the kit before installation. DO you use a heatgun or a hairdryer on the tape to make it stick nicely??? Both on my solara and on my camry the only problems i have are with the front valances (that too once a year thingie) and thats cus i park too close to the curb at times hiting the valances!
