car noisier after aftermarket springs and struts

ive got tein/tokico combination on my car and I was wondering if anyone with a similar setup experiences a noisy suspension? its not any clunking or thunking per se, but when I go over rough roads, the whole car seems to shudder more. also, in the morning or on a cold start, i can definetely hear my springs when i go over speed bumps and stuff. i guess the whole car feels noisier in general and you can feel and hear some rattles in the plastic panels when you're on a bumpy road. is this typical because we have solaras and not a higher end car (which probably has higher quailty insulation and panels), or did my installer not do too great of a job of installing my suspension?

I have the same setup, I really dont knotice it. But you will hear more road noise with a stiffer suspension. There is less cushioning on your car and it may cause the noise to travel through the car more. I dont think you have anything to worry about. Post some pictures though!

pictures can be seen via the www link. has anyone done insulation on their panels to provide sound deadening?

Yeah, my car was definitely alot noisier after lowering. Also having low profile tires with less rubber to cushion adds to the noise factor as well. Who did you get to do the install. I hated the shop that did mine, so I thought it might have been an installation factor as well, but in talking to people they say that it is probably not. As far as the installation of sound deadening goes, I bouth the insulation, but I just did my trunk, I was too lazy to take off panels to install it and started wondering if it would really be worth all hte work. As far as the suspension noise goes, I guess installing the installation over the fenders/firewall would be the most likely spots to work on.

Good thing I only got tein springs on stock struts. Saves me the issue with noise.

You know i really dont get why people say that the tein/ tokico combo makes the ride a lot harder than stock. I really dont notice the difference that much. Yes it is a bit stiffer, but its barely noticable. The main thing i felt after the drop was the lower center of gravity. I have no problems with cluncking or anything. I did it myself, maybe that may be the reason. Anybody else feel the same way?

the tein/tokico ride is not much harder than stock IF you are driving on a smooth road. when i go home to the suburbs, i dont even notice any extra harshness. but when you goto school downtown where the roads are uneven and riddled with potholes, you hear and feel EVERYTHING.

Yup, like Hari said, its when you're on the rough roads that it is a huge difference. I can hear and feel every bump now. I've also noticed with the stiffer suspension, going over potholes can lead to some pretty adverse handling characteristics. All in all, the look and the greatly inproved handling cornering ability makes it all worth it.

Im guess im comparing this too my camaro. I could feel the bumps much more in that car than my solara so that may be why I think its not bad at all.

Not trying to be an asssss about this nor do i want to cause trouble, but isnt it common sense that if you drive on rough roads riddled with potholes that youd hear/feel the road? riding on lowered/stiffer suspension doesnt help either... unless your riding a real luxury car, you might just feel a little thud lol....
also having low profile tires doesnt help the cushioning to the ride either. although when i drove on stock wheels with lowered suspension, still felt like driving with low pros... not much of a difference

but like i said, i just want to state the facts... its kind of obvious that riding on rough roads with a performance/stiffer suspension, youd feel the road... noise is a different factor and im not going to go into that

Overall rule when you have an aftermarket suspension and low profile tires, is to avoid all the rough roads and potholes you can... Im rollin on Eibachs/tokicos and 19s... I used to have 17's and drove with those for a while until I knew the roads around here quite well since i didnt want to get into trouble with my 19s... but Im a guy who drives and remembers all the potholes around here... I also avoid San Francisco roads as much as I can... thats just askin for it

^ true

When you are lowered on plus size rims you become much more conscious of the surface you are driving over. No, the tein/tokico combo does not ride as plush as stock under real world driving conditions. Yes it does make more of a racket over anything other than a perfect road. But these tradeoffs are all worth it for the significant boost in appearance and handling.
