How does the upper grill attach?

How does the upper grill attach?

Postby Slappy_G » Sun Dec 15, 2002 3:52 pm

Hi everyone... This is my first post after lurking around for quite a while.

I was inspired by the posts about the gutter-mesh grills that people are doing now - very clean look. I wonder, though, how the stock grill itself attaches to the car. I ask since I have a friend with a 6-DOF metal mill that he owns, and I'm thinking about having a custom one made.

The thing I'm worried about is the mounting mechanism and if it will take some extra weight from a non-plastic grill.

Thanks in advance, folks...

Three bolts hold the top of the grill in place and the bottom has plastic tabs that hook into slots in the plastic bumper cover. Once you take the bolts off you have to just pull on one side of the grill and it will pull out then pull ou the other side, not very difficult. I've takin mine off several times. I have the grill mesh on my top and bottom grill. If you want to see it go to:

I can't get my damn grill off! I untightened the 3 bolts above the grill and am trying to slide the grill out of the slots but it won't come out. It's in there VERY VERY tight. Do the two plastic flimsy tabs have anything to do with taking the grill off? When I try to pull it off the whole front bumber pulls with it...I'm pulling very hard.

You do have to pull pretty hard. It's easier if you start pulling at one end and get the side tab to come out then the other side then the lower center tabs come out easier.
