Calculate
conversion from mm to inch is 25.4

(215mm/25.4)*0.45 = tire sidewall height of 3.8"
(225mm/25.4)*0.45 = tire sidewall height of 3.98"
(235mm/25.4)*0.45 = tire sidewall height of 4.16"

take the (sidewall * 2) + rim diameter = overall diameter

(3.80" *2) + 18" = 25.60" (too small for nothing)
(3.98" * 2) + 18" = 25.96" (ideal balance and good choice)
(4.16" * 2) + 18" = 26.32" (perfect tire but really few choice !)
26.31" (Stock overall diameter)

I have 235/40/18 with 7.5" wheels, no rubbing at all although its fairly close .to the strut in the rear. Offset is +40.hth.
