Why would you only want to buy the headers and not the y??

For people like me who got a custom Y pipe.. Im not hating but I like my Y pipe better. Its straight all the way with no bends. Again Im not hating. I just like mine.

Looks great, I'll definitely be in if the price is right... One other question though, what's the diameter of the pipe leading to the exhaust pipe? Just wondering if it'll fit aftermarket cat-backs.

As far as fitting the GReddy and Apex'i, the answer is yes. The pipe diameter is 2.5" on the Megan, and I think 3" for the cat backs, but the flange is the same size. The bolt holes are ovals rather than circles, as to allow some play in lining up. I don't forsee the fitment being a problem. You'd get better power out of a 2.5" pipe as the flow would be more consistent. I think 3" is excessive, esp for a NA engine.

Dats, I agree with you. I've been trying to tell them that the biggest restriction is where the rear bank meets the rest of the Y, its a T really. I like your setup as well and I may look into something like it myself.

Bill, I'm going to have Sean make me a custom catback with a Megan canister, same one that was on Tim's Subaru and Jeff's Z. We're thinking about offering just the piping for a solara so you could make your own custom catback, just by adding the muffler of your choice. anyone interested?

So, you would have to have aonther custom y pipe made.

depends on your goals. This y pipe is fine, but I'm not sure if it's the most powerful design. You can see in the pics, it's more of a "T" pipe than a y, which is pretty close to what the stock pipe looks like. My guess is that a straighter design, like dat has, would allow the exhaust from the front/rear to merge more cleanly.

I have very little knowledge of physics, so I don't know for sure if this is the case or not. I'm assuming that if they did it this way, it's for a reason. I'll try to find out for sure what that reason is.

If the price is as quoted, then I am a definate in as well

but also though, I too have some concerns with the y-pipe design...though it looks nice, the collector area seems to be not quite that well designed, as the angle can create plenty of turbulence.....

are the headers almost identical to the stock headers, short of size and flow? basically...will they bolt up to a stock y-pipe?

if possible, I would like to keep my ultimate performance y-pipe

but regardless....I'm in if somebody's keeping count of numbers interested

There's a considerable difference in the shape of the headers vs stock. Look in the album, there's a pic of the car with the stock ones on.

Hopefully it'll work with your Y, I'm concerned about the fitment though. If I remember correctly, the Y they have now goes further up in the front than the stock one did, so you may have to trim or increase the length of the Y where it meets them.
