solara quick shifter!!!

solara quick shifter!!!

Postby mailskobe » Wed Feb 12, 2003 3:45 pm

Hi,
I have a TRD quickshifter for my Solara. I was expecting it to come with
detailed instructions for installation. However the first instructions says
" remove stock shifter as described in the Factory Service Manual".
Now I don't feel too enthusiastic about getting a $100 manual!!
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,

get the haynes or the chilton. i think they explain it sufficiently enough.

i bought mine from toyota, but they're less expensive at the auto stores. call around first.

my quickshifter is ON, thanks to peter and davpak. he gave me a diagram and i did it on my own alone in about 2 hours. it took me long since my front console refused to come off so i had to work on the lever assembly while it was still in there.
well, its on now and i love it!!
thanks for all the help.

Hey Mailskobe,
Congratulations on the install, i've done it also while leaving the assembly in there. Wasn't that little round clip thing a bitch to get off, i have done 3 quickshifter installs and that is the hardest part of the whole thing, other than that it's not too difficult.

Yeah, my shortshifter was also installed with the assembly in. Only took my friend 20 mins to do it since he already has done the install on several Camry/Solara. That locking speedclip (the pain in the a$$ washer clip) was the biggest culprit of the whole install.

Surprisingly the clip wasnt a big deal at all. it all went very smooth and i wasted more time in gettin the front console portion off (which didnt come out finally) the thing i pride myself most is the speed clip, that was a challange to get back on specially since my assembly was loose and i had no one to provide support.
