Will 205/55-16 fit on my solara? I know mine is 205/60-16 so it's same width. Will it change my speed reading?

Since you are making the diameter of the wheel from sideview smaller, it would affect the speedo, but not drastically that you'd notice... dont go as low as 205/50 unless youve increased the rim size

Ultimately, youd want to stick to the stock size to avoid any issues. Is there a particular reason why you want to go to 205/55/16?

My sister's car has brand new 205/55-16 tire but she decided to trade it in after she bought a new tires... so I was wondering if I could have her tires since mine is rather worn out.

Will weight load index (?) affect anything? Mine is 91 and hers is 89. Thanks. I don't really need a new tires but I thought it would be nice to get free set. he he.

As WTF? says, you can do it, although it's not really the ideal size. It shouldn't affect your speedo too much, at least not enough to worry about. The 205's are already a pretty narrow tire for the Solara; I've always felt that when I drive behind a Solare with stock tires that they look pretty puny. If haven't lowered your car, you'll have even more wheel gap, so there's a small detriment to the look from the side, as well.

If money is a big issue for you, then go ahead. You might wish you'd gone a different route in the future, though. Why don't you take your sister's tires, sell them, and then use the $$ to buy something that looks and fits better?
