hey all,

Can anyone point me where I can find info to clear up my foggy cloudy looking headlights except for buying new ones? There is some film or something on them that is impossible to take off. There has to be some solution that takes it off besides this $50+ one: http://www.autogeek.net/lenshowto.html

Search did not do much help. TIA

plastic

Plexus rocks for minor scratches: great for motorcycle helmets.

Look into Micro-Mesh, its a fine, cushioned abraisive that is great for scratches on anything, including paint, plastic and others. (Yes, it really does go to 16,000 grit!) Don't go in a circle. Up& down untill all scratches are removed, then on the next finer grit go side to side untill all the up&down scratches are gone, then up& down etc.... I've used this stuff to avoid replacing zillion dollar aircraft windows and it's great. (don't be afraid of the elbow grease)

Although: if you have serious crazing (micro-cracks from UV exposure) there isn't much you can do... although I don't think Solaras have been around for long enough to craze that bad.

Mequiar's makes a product called "PlastX" that does very well for being a simple bottle of blue goop. It's not perfect, but it took care of a good portion of the scratching.

Also, if I recall, someone posted a FULL how-to on removing the scratches with polishing and sanding, and perhaps magic beans. Check the Tutorials forum for that as well.
