Our '99 models were made in '98, making them 8 years old now.
What is your current average MPG?

This Poll applies to '99 SE I4 Auto only.

Mine is 88K 18-19mpg.

VOTE! I want to see a real spread.

I just got 29 on my 5 spd. v6 this last tank. 75% highway, 25% in town. That is the best I have ever gotten, but I usually average 22.5 on a full tank of in-town driving.

your talking 5sfe, why are you restricted to 99 data only????

If you want info from 2001 5sfe, i easily get 540 miles on a fillup, ie. 29mpg (that in houston, where a/c is pretty much needed 10 months in a year).

sounds like its just a case of having a heavy foot...my old 94 camry 2.2 was the same way, then I quit driving so damn hard and the gas mileage increased a bunch.

how the heck can your car do 18-19 mpg? it is a I4.

I got an average of 28 mpg before I filled it up two weeks ago.

FYI: my 1990 celica (sold in 2004) had a first gen 5sfe m/t; that gave me 32 mpg for being a 14 year old car!

I'm a '00 5SFE auto and basically it varies on my driving habits. At times I hit the low 18mpg due to heavy pedal on the accel since I want to go go! But, when I'm feeling lazy and relaxed, its around 26ish as I don't accel hard, just nice and gently. Plus if you're doing city driving in stop n go stuff, you'll eat gas no matter what and my avg is about 20ish since I rarely get into traffic or catch red lights if I know the area and timing of the lights. My setup isn't stock anymore as I have a TRD dropin filter, Tein SS coils, and 18x7.5" wheels on so my driving characteristics for mpg have changed. Still within decent levels if I were to take it easy for the most part. I'm about 80% Freeway and 20% street on work days, my freedays vary a lot. Go figure
