hi i was wondering what is the spec on the solara v6 engine and how much hp can this engine handle? How fast can this car runs in a 1/4 miles? And what years did this car came in a 5-speed model? Any info will help and if there is any website that provide more info on this issues? Thanks

The v6 engine is a 3.0L 200hp DOHC engine. The 5spd was available from 99-02. Since it has a high compression ratio 10.5:1, its hard to get the engine over 300hp at the crank reliably without a new set of heads. Jim from foreign affairs was working on this.

I believe that he actually had a new set made, but they were also ported and polished. With all this, he ended up with 3.1 liters of displacement, rather than the standard 3. He did this in order to reduce compression, as Yanks stated. Now, he is able to safely run higher boost with his supercharger. He hasn't dyno tested it yet, but he is expecting to get over 300 hp at the wheels.

as for your 1/4 mile question......let me save you sometime....a solara is not a sports car. It is not that fast so don't expect to be smoking a lot of people. BUT!!!!!!....if your stubborn and don't wanna face that fact and u really like the solara then it is possible to obtain a low 14 sec 1/4 mile......stock v6 stick should run u mid to high 15's depending on ur driving skills. Get a solara and join our family!!!!

Basically Jim from foreign affairs setup a core exchange. You send him your heads, and he sends them to a machine shop and has them ported and polished and i believe a few other things. It was a while ago that he posted this. He dropped his compression down to around 8:1, but its really not an option unless you extremely mechanically inclinded or you have a deep pocket.

I'm well over 300 crank (273fwhp). Its not hard to do, s/c@5.5 psi and headers. I bet I could do 300 crank at 4psi, thats only 255fwhp.

Im assuming by "juice" you mean NOS. Its really not a great idea if you want your car to last. Personally i bought toyota for reliability, but NOS will greatly shorten the life of the engine.

Eric you are right that it might not be hard, but its expensive  I also have an auto. Either way more power to ya. You car is awesome :D
