I have a 99 Solara with 61k miles. i have new tranny fluid but it still does it. I noticed that at full throttle (automatic tranny) that when my car shifts into second the tranny will engage and go, then drop back a bit then start to go again. From an RPM point of view it will shift at 6200 then drop to say 3800 go a little then drop back to 3800 then go as usual. I am not sure what kind of problem this is. I think that the gears are fine and am guessing that the clutch might be wearing out.

Thanks

Is the torque converter going bad, because my car has never done this before until recently.

When you got your tranny fluid replaced, did you get just a drain and fill or a full tranny fluid flush?
