I have a quick question for those mechanically knowledgeable members. I accidentally spilled about half a cup of coffee into the center console this morning. Luckily, most of the coffee fell into and around the cup holders. However, some small amount of coffee did seep through e-brake boot, and the transmission. The drive to work this morning was fine. Nothing really out of the ordinary.

My question is, are the parts under the console sealed? Can liquid cause damage? Thanks in advance.

IIRC, i think there is nothing down there just a few wires connected to the e brake. If you want to clean it to get rid of the coffee smell and the annoying fact that you spilled coffee down there just take the center console out.

Theres 2 screws in the front (just pop the thing that goes around the shifter off to get to it) and inside the armrest thing that opens there are 2 bolts. Once you get those off it comes right out. You can even use the hose and get some pressure wash on those cupholders.

It depends..

Postby JMSinMaryland » Mon Mar 20, 2006 3:43 pm

If it was decaf you won't have any problems, if it was regular you might find your transmission shifting faster. In the case that you drive a 4 cylinder you might want to spill some on the engine as well  . Jon.

Really? I got a 0-60 of 4.6 seconds and a lower 10's quarter mile on mine (and probably even actually sent some power to the rear wheels because the handling was C R I S P), but I guess my car reacts differently (but then again it was an extra-strong Columbian brew, e.g. more beans). Anyway, that should be about it electronics-wise in a 4-banger, but an SLE with factory security has its "brains" underneath the cupholder that's about 3" X 3" X 3/4" too, so you got less to worry about.

You should be ok, as long as your flux capacitor and time circuits didn't get wet.

Try some expresso in the gas tank. You'll do 0-60 in negative seconds. :x
