where the heck is the tranny port!

Hey, yesterday when doin an oil change we accidentally drained a bit of the tranny (thinkin it was the oil)..so I gotta top it off..

its an 01' slc v6 automatic, but I cant find the port to top it off..can anyone lead me?

I feel like an idiot so no need to flame me allready haha :-?

? i bet you can do it with the oil in an emergency or last resort, but you have an oil cap for that. And yeah, when I change trany oil, I fill from the dipstick

? if you are talking about an oil pan on the driverside and it has a HEX-bolt then that is the transmission oilpan. Complete opposite located on the passenger side is the oilpan with a normal 14mm bolt.

so its not something you top off then hey, the oil that I put in through the dipstick sits in there?

I really dont know that much about cars..

I hate to say this, but they're not ripping you off based on what I have read. Heck we charge up to 30 dollars to install a battery where I work, but I figure that we're protecting people from themselves.

Well, that's where you ALWAYS put the transmission fluid in through, and I haven't heard of it being put in any other way from the dipstick. However FYI, with a 1988 Chevy Corsica (my grandma's car), the oil filler AND dipstick was in the same slot; the dipstick was in the middle of the cap and the opening was the same as your average oil filler hole on "seperated" systems.

As for that container: if you're looking from the top of the car:
Sarcastic answer: Your oil filler cap.
Cap with big tube running towards front of car: Radiator cap.
Reservoir immediately below strut: Power Steering fluid reservoir
Next below that: Coolant recovery tank

Under the car: all-too-creative-crap, I dunno... I have connections that allow me to get $9 Synth oil changes.

Oh, and one more sidenote: We'll just assume you meant SL"E" V6, not SLC (never produced by Toyota).

When you underneath the car the left is is tranny side, and the right is the oil side.
Oil pan bolt is 9/16" bolt.
The tranny is a hex socket.
