I'm thinking of going with....

Front: Alpine Type-S SPS171A
Rear: Alpine Type-R SPR-69LP
Sub: Alpine Type-X SWX-1242D
Amp 4 channel: Rockford Fosgate Punch P4004
Amp 2 channel: ???

What do you guys think?

go with alpine for both amps... keep it matching. Alpine is the best in mobile audio anyway. Sounds good though

To be honest with you, I would stick with the Type Rs all the way through... If you can afford it, go for ALL Type X... But mixing and matching different series like that may not sound quite right (different manufacturing materials and different sound focuses)... If you absolutely feel that you HAVE to mix and match the different series, DEFINITELY put the Type Rs up front (you want your better speakers up front... your rear speakers are for rear fill or passengers only, the fronts will be YOUR main stage and focus). The Type X subs are nice, but they require a lot of juice to power properly, and may also drown out the rest of your system.. The Type R 12 (SWR-1242D) is an excellent sub; I personally run a pair of them with around 1100 Watts continuous and they sound fantastic (if not a bit overpowering at times, but then again I run around 700 Watts continuous to my mids and highs).

As for the Fosgate amp... After 1997 I'd be hard pressed to say that they have any true quality offerings on the market... Go for JL / series or Alpine and you won't be disappointed.

ignorance is bliss is it not???

good for the $$ but not the best in mobile audio... eclipse, ED, RE etc. mucho better than the alpine crap..

"alpine CRAP"??? Yea what do I... or the majority of anyone in the mobile audio business know? The F1 status alpine is really crappy... i dont even know why they bother... or how they even maintain a business

Those speakers would be powered well off:

JL 300/4 and JL 500/1

Or... If you really wanna stay consistent and go all the way with Alpine:

MRV-F345 and MRD-M605

I, personally, prefer the / series in this case.

The Quarts are some nice speakers, but they tend to get a bit harsh at higher frequencies and blend a lot of midbass. They are a good set of speakers overall though, and I'm sure you'll enjoy them!

In general an amp's pretty much an amp, and the Fosgate should power them fine... I'm not, personally, a fan of RF equipment manufactured after 1997, but plenty of people use them, and plenty of people don't know the difference. Keep it cool and don't abuse it.

Today I bought a 12" PCE MB Quart subwoofer and a 2400w SPL amp, which I am proud to say that I installed myself! :D
