removing emblems

Postby woa_its_j3ff » Mon Apr 03, 2006 7:14 pm

I know ive heard bout like shaving the emblems off the solara, my friend has an '03 pontiac grandprix,a nd he did his simply by pulling it off with fishing wire, and it was just a stick on emblem (his factory emblem) so it came right off without even damaging the paint, no holes no nothing. Is that the same case with a '99 solara? could i use the same method?..
thanks.

a little heat + fishing wire or dental floss...the floss works better but breaks easily + desolv-it or any other degreaser to break down the adhesive.

on a gen 1 you can remove all of the emblems and have no existing holes or other worries...just hit the search button and you should find a bunch of info on this.

it takes about 15-30 min tops to do the whole thing. just take your time and you'll be fine.

go buy the desolv-it...don't do it half assed cause you'll be pissed when you have to stop right in the middle of it and drive your car with emblems all trashed up, down to the grocery store to buy some degreaser. it will protect your paint too, just do it the right way, the first time.

1. Wait for a hot day
2. Use floss
3. Use goo gone to remove any residue (available at any store)

The grille emblem is the only one with post holes. All others are held on by adhesive.
