How much did you pay to change your timing belt service?

How much did you pay to change your timing belt service?

I get minor services done at the dealerships, and the major services done at local shops (i buy the toyota parts and give em to local shops). Anyhow..this month one of the dealership is holding a special...where timing belt, a/c belt, alternator belt and exhaust belt (??) including labor are going for $229.99. I asked them about the water pump replacement...they said if the part needs replacement..they will let me know..and will not charge for LABOR. Local shops quoted me close to 150 for timing belt alone! I was planning to do the service in the next 10K miles...but if the price is THAT great (ie. 229.99)..might as well do it now...What did you all pay for yours??

is it a v6 or i4?
our prices right now are: $199.95 for i4 and $259.95 for v6. but that does not include the other belts (~$30). i'd say its a good deal and you should take it. what about plugs? have you done those yet? if not, do em at the same time as the timing belt.
and with the water pump, if it aint broke, don't fix it! if its leaking, replace it, if not leave it the heck alone!

When should I replace my belts? I've recently done an auto trans fluid flush/fill, coolant service, and replaced spark plugs/wires.

I have a '99 with almost 70k miles.

Yeah, that price is for a v6! (in reality its higher, but i got a coupon from a dealership)...and when i called them up and asked for the w/pump..they said labor would be included..only that the parts for that alone were $100...Doesn't include timing belt..and yeah, i was planning to change the sparks+wires (denso iriidium...or however hell you spell it).

Toyota Recommends timing belt be changed every 60K miles (but in reality..you can streatch it out a bit....there were members on Sc3 who streatched it to beyond 130K!!).

EDIT: MY BAD..it is 259.99 (pardon me..haven't slept in 48 hours)..however it includes free oil/filter....and change of power steering belt, a/c belt, alternator belt and smog pump belt and FREE LABOR for replacement of the water pump)..the pumpitself will cost me $100 additionally, and obviously the sprarks+wires will be extra as well...THANKS for all your info...I'll take it in this weekend!

I brought in my own power steering and alternator belts and they put them on for free.
