front strut caps noisy

Just got my car back from a dealership and they advised me on the "noisy front strut caps" and gave me an estimate of $424+tax+alignment $87.49.

Sure this rattling noise irritates me but that's sounds kinda pricey to me...

What do you think, is it possible to do DIY??

When I asked the dealership guy for a quote I did not state I needed it to eliminate the noise - I just asked how much would the struts replacement cost...

This might be a stupid question to some of you but do you think changing the mounts would get rid of the noise or would I need to have the struts changed as well? 'Cause I think changing the strut mounts would be cheaper?
