are you planning on taking on any XLE's? my guess is that it woukd be a toss-up and if there are any turns, the better driver will win.

99-01 XLE's
Camry 3252 lbs, 194 hp,209 ft/lbs, .78 roadholding index
Solara 3305 lbs, 200 hp,214 ft/lbs, .77 roadholding index

It would be a total toss up and would totally depend on vehicle condition.

if solara is 5 speed, then outcome is obvious. I dont think xle comes 5 speed.

If it's from a stop and a drag... whoever had better tires and knows how to launch the autobox better.

If it's from a roll, as long as reactions are the same, whoever has less weight and gas in their car will probably win.

If it's autocrossing, the best driver.

It all depends, but there's no general winner the way there is if you compare a chevy cavalier to a solara.

Well, the person asking has an SLE and was asking about an XLE, which both are the "full luxury" models and therefore don't come with stick, so it pretty much boils down to what dominoSLEV6 said. However in a stop/drag, it may depend on who has traction control since it'll prevent the wheels from spinning and enabling a faster launch (which is why the Altima SE-R doesn't even have a TRAC OFF switch).

somehow i get the feeling the solara will win by a front bumper. It is more 'sporty'. However i dont understand the increase in weight.

BTW for auto's is it bad to just mash the gas? would we get faster 0-60 time feeding the gas?

the driver is the main factor here. If he stinks than you will win.

It's only more "sporty" because it's a two door. :D
The race would be a toss-up, the cars are very similar.

you CAN'T go by that weight. If your car has OPTIONS, the weight will Increase. So in the end, the Solara can end up weighing more.
