gotta couple of not so standard questions..

In the market for new rims for my solara

Regarding offset. In a perfect world we would increase rim width equally on both sides to retain maximum performance? Is my thinking correct? I am aware of the "offset thread" but i am finding some manufacturers claiming a 7.5" will fit just fine with standard 45+ offset..this true?

also i have some choices in what offset i can choose for 7.5" or 8.0" rims which all fall in the "it will work" category but i would like to know which number would be optimal for performance/longevity

I am not looking to sacrafice anything for the look...unless i have to of course 8)

no one knows if or what the correct optimal offsets would be as width increases?

Either an 18x7.5 with 45 mm offset or 18x8 with 40 mm offset. I recommend a 225/40 18 with either one. There's not going to be a noticeable difference in handling or looks anyway you go b/t the 2. Jon.

Are you sure a 7.5 wide rim with a 45mm offset will work??? Cause I have a 7.5 wide rim with a 35mm offset and I only have a fingers distance between the rim and the strut.

I have run an 18x7.5 with 45 on both my 01 Solara (dropped with TRD suspension) and 99 Camry (dropped with TRD Suspension). Jon.

How close was it to the struts when you ran that setup?

Great Fit

It's as close to an OEM fit as you'll find. I had the car loaded down with 5 people and no rubbing. Jon.

I run 18x8 with 42 offset on 225/40-18's and they fit perfect and fill the wheelwells much better than the stockers.
