Hawk REAR brake pads...do they exist??!

Hawk REAR brake pads...do they exist??!

Postby krook » Mon Apr 10, 2006 2:50 pm

i searched all over and finally found a seller on ebay that sells Hawk REAR pads. so i bought 'em.

yesterday i did my brakes, and found that the rear pads don't fit. they're way bigger and don't even fit in my torque plate. the part number listed on the pad is HB401F.587, which is suppposedly a direct fit for our cars.

anybody else have Hawk REAR pads???

I know they make fronts. According to Tire Rack http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/results.jsp?autoMake=Toyota&autoModel=Camry+Solara+SE&autoYear=2002&autoModClar=

I hope you get this figured out.

i already got the fronts, dude. :p

actually, the front pads fit shape-wise, but are so f*ckin' THICK that i couldn't get my caliper back into my torque plate! even after i'd pushed the caliper's piston back into its bore... *sigh*

didn't you just get brakes? what rear pads you runnin'?

No, I'm still running stock. I wanted to upgrade my brake system since it sucked, but I ended up finding out that my master cylinder was leaking/bad so I wanted to get that replaced to see how it performed after that.

I may do the upgrade after my recent mods are done. I have quite a few to keep me busy for now.

I was under the impression that the rears didn't do much anyways. I thought those were for the e brake.

As far as I know, Hawk only makes FRONT pads for the Solara, not rears.

that's what i thought, but these guys (Motorsports Direct) sell a rear set.

http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php?t=22832

the thing i'm confused about is that there seems to be a rear set for our Solaras made by Hawk that people are selling. i'm just wondering if the part number is wrong.

damnit, too bad Hawk doesn't have a website. grrrrrr!

Does the part number match the one you bought?

yeah, i checked on the box, and on the part. it's the same as the one Motorsports Direct is advertising in our "For Sale" section.

i might just have to eat it on this one, and return it to the seller. what's everyone running on their rear pads?

that part number doesn't even exist on the hawk website
another thing u should know is that the 99 Solaras use different rear pads than the 00-03..a lot of shops get confused on that

I have the axxis as well, on brembo cross drilled rotors...Great stopping power, but those pads dust like crazy...I will never buy those pads again for that sole reason.
