usually a HID kit put into a halogen projector results in a really messed up beam pattern...

Hard to tell from that photo, but the images shown are at least 50 ft from the wall. The pattern just gets wider - not taller.

The Silverstars are definitely NOT "blue" if that's what you're lookin' for.

I didnt what the DRLs to be blue, just more white and less yellow. oh well.

Hehe - I've been collecting bits & pieces over the last month or so and have been out of town working lately so the first chance I've had to put things together was this past week or so - then out of town again the next couple of week... and out of $$ - so I won't be doing much else for awhile...

Well, if a true "HID" effect is desired for the DRL, I think H^LO bulbs might be a better call, which you can find at your local tuner shop, but I can't, for the life of me, find it on the 'net (it's always jumbled with Halo the game or the BMW Angel Eye "Halo")... Got those last week, and I think it's got Luminics B E A T by a million points!

They're 7500K, has a 2 year warranty (where I bought it from, at least), and more bright than the 5150K of the Luminics, which is the same price of the Silverstar, which ironically is almost stock for the Kelvin rating and only lasts about 1 year average, so sorry to say, you got hosed.

Hm... I don't think you have the right idea on what we're trying to do with the DRL's... (unless I'm totally off...)

The Gen 2's use the same bulb for high beam and DRL... it just applies a lower wattage across the bulb for the DRL... no matter what type of white/blue bulbs we've tried, the reduced wattage always ends up with the amber/yellow colored light.

Well, although in the Gen1 the DRL's are the low beam and the bulb is shared with the high beam (H4 bulb) and I know everything you are saying, for me, the bulbs seem more whitish-blue than anything, this espcially was proven true when my car was recently valet-parked in daylight; I thought the lights were on at first sight, then I looked again and didn't notice my marker lights were on.

Therefore, I think it's safe to say that this is an exception, but then again it's a trial-and-error with a Gen2 and how much they dim it, since I don't notice a drastic difference in brightness with the Gen1's DRL/lights-on.

I had posted on here, but for some reason many of my post are being deleted. Here it goes again. Also I used your pic PXLpainter and I hope you do not mind.....

Now I am using these projectors from a 2006 solara with 5300k McCullochs. I love the way they look on your cars the only problem is the glare above the cutoff, now to get rid of the glare you have to do this: (And its a little extensive and Time consuming not to mention you need a lot of patience)

Open your headlight up, remove the projector which is held by 4 screws, remove the plate which is held by 3 screws, get a small peice of metal to cover up a small rectangular slit or opening and you will use JB Weld to glue over the opening. This will solve your guys' glare problem above the cut-off (which is shown on the pic above). I will try to get pics up soon of my headlights.

Brought this back just to show you guys what I was talking about.....

Both beams are from the same gen 2 headlights and projectors....

the one on the left, halogen stock, rectangular glare above the cutoff...

On the Right, 5300K McCulloch, no more glare above the cutoff....
