V6 hesitation?

V6 hesitation?

Postby EmeraldSLE » Thu Apr 13, 2006 5:53 am

I just got my Solara a few days ago, and it is sweeet. But it does have a slight hesitation off the line. Other than that, it runs strong and smooth. It's probably due for a tune-up, with 79K on it, but have any of you automatic owners experienced this? Thanks! 8)

Probably needs a new air filter, and maybe cleanin' the thorttle body should help.
Also try SeaFoam.

I can see that happening. Even tho it's a V6 it's only 3.0 with 200 ponies. And all of the torque kicks in only after 4000rpm. I have manual and I can rev it up a lil when taking off (I also have kn drop in filter, which does not do any noticable difference), but this causes tires to spin sometimes, especially if you have stock ones. I think what my car needs is new spark plugs, anybody knows when those should be changed?

As to tune up it depends if it was done at 60-65k. That's when my toyota told me to do mine, but i ain't doing it. In your case if it wasnt done you should look into. I believe it's time for a new timimng belt at 80-85K. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Congrats on your new car. Is this your first car?

Mine is a 2K v6 and it has slight hesitiation too but i expect that with an automatic. Just clean the throttle body, new air filter and you shoul dbe fine. Mine has 140k and runs great. i just put in a RSB and changed the brake lines to SS and runs ggggreat!

Thanks for the replies. I guess a slight hesitation is normal for these automatics. I'll get it tuned up, and see how that works. And R.M., nope, this isn't my first car (that was a loooong time ago) - just my first Solara. And I'm pleased with my choice - it reminds me of a SC300, but without the price tag. 8)

And the slush box isn't that bad, you just have to find the sweet spots for the tranny.
And you will love that part of the car alot.
That what i've done for my car.
