TRD Gauge install

TRD Gauge install

Postby Deion » Wed Apr 12, 2006 6:33 pm

My TRD Gauge just came in. The install looks pretty simple, I never did it before. For the people that have this, where did you install the dimmer switch? Or did you get it professionally installed?

Am I wrong when I say those are imitation TRD gauges? I thought these were the gauges...

The ones you are showing look a little different. Not saying they don't look good I was just wondering.

no offense;

the new ones look shoddy.... :|

Deion, installation of these gauges are simple. they slip right over your OEM gauges. all you have to look for is:

1. Green wire in right plug behind cluster
2. Ground
3. Mounting place for Dimmer switch (possibly the coinbox on the LEFT side of steering wheel)

I was looking for those white face ones for a while but all the dealerships in my area couldn't get them. They said they were discontinued. Even checking online I had trouble finding them, so when these ones came up on ebay I just grabbed them figuring I won't find the white ones.

I do admit they don't look the best, I really wanted the white face ones but didn't feel like waiting anymore. It kind of annoyed me looking at the green output so I just grabbed these.

Thanks, I'll try and get them in tomorrow when the sun is back up.

Thanks! I did the search using TRD Gauge install and a lot that came up were supercharger stuff. Sorry for stealing the same gauge :D

I didn't use the dimmer switch they gave me.
Re-wired the dimmer switch to use wit the stock one, and just light up blue and not blue & green.
Oh yeah don't forget to get the right dimmer too.
If you want you can send me the gauges and i can re-wired them for you; or i could just look in my car and tell you what wires i hooked up and all for them to work wit out the dimmer and the extra light switch.
I just left all my bulbs in the cluster and cut/dremeled a notch on the top for all the wires.

That sounds pretty sweet. Do you have a pic of what it looks like lit up doing it your way?

They look nice (better than stock), just mate them with some nice gauge bezel and your pretty much set!

Anyone else know who else is selling gauges with trd in em'. I know many moons ago they were available right and left on ebay and procarparts, but i'm specifically referring to A/T TRD reverse glow gauges....

i been lookin' for A/T TRD reverse glows, but to no avail. instead, i'm gonna just do like someone mentioned here and get plain reverse glows from procarparts.com and affix a small "TRD" sticker to it.

Installed them today and just went for a drive. Does anyone notice that the needles are hard to see after putting on reverse glow? It was more like a black stick instead of orange needles. I tried playing with the factory dimmer but it was still hard to see.

I really like the new look, just need to change the clock to blue and the turn signals too so everything matches.
