Car Radio Problems - switching stations

I have a 2004 Solara and for about the past month my radio has been acting up. It will automatically just change to another station.. I know it sounds strange, but I will just be driving along and then it just switches to another station. Just wondering is anyone else is having the same problem.

A preset station? Random station?

PS You have a Gen 2.

I would be playing on a preset station (andy preset station) and it would change to a random station that doesn't really get good reception.

This is my first time on this site and I wasn't really sure where to post the topic -- what's the different between a Gen 2 and a Gen 1?

Here's a list, year and what basic traits are present, easiest being the front features like the headlight and grille, butI am too tired to go into other differences (but at least it's not comparing a BMW E46 325i coupe to an E46 M3; there are at least 15 differences):

Gen1 = 1999-2001, flat-top and rounded bottom shape headlights that only has one bulb for high and low, "pinstriped" grille with surround and horizontal bar chromed.

Gen1.5 = 2002-2003, similar shape, except the inner ends are more rounded and feature a seperate hi/lo with 3 horizontal bars as the grille design.

Gen2 = 2004+, completely redesigned car with upswept lights that has a projector low-beam instead of reflectors; grille has square notch design with chrome bar on top.

If your stereo has RDS then it will automaticly search for other stations (usually it will search for stations that play the same genre) if your reception fades. If you do have RDS then look in your owners manual to find out how to turn off the auto search.
I dont know if the gen 2 has steering wheel mounted radio controls, but if it does then you may be hitting the buttons accidentaly.

Hope this help,
