tinting head/tailights

tinting head/tailights

Postby JAYDEE23 » Sun Apr 16, 2006 6:49 am

i am going with black rims and i am contemplating tinting the head/tailights.

Can anyone comment on the following that have thier stuff tinted (also any pics would be great)

-i am afraid of getting my ballz busted my the cops..

-not spending $200+ on the fleabay specials (rather spray tint stockers and purchase new ones if i want to change back)

-headlight/tailight plastic covers are bulky and kinda ugly no?

-how bad will my light output be affected if i get em moderately dark to somewhat match the tint/rims/trim/etc...

and what brand would you guys suggest for the spray tint if i decide to go that route?

also is this stuff removable?

What about precut tint? wondering how this goes on flat since our healights are quite rounded

decided to finally put some time and $$ into this car seeing the condition its in(was an old ladies garage queen)..The bike is going on the back burner this summer :(

VHT nightshadz translucent black paint.

Cost $8

Light is not affected that much, but that does depend on how many coats of paint you put on. It comes out light, so you will have time to stop and check your progress. Once you clear coat it, its not likely you will be able to take it off. Mineral spirits might work, but also might take the original red off as well.

I have never had a cop say anything to me and have had plenty of them behind me on sunny days where you would think the brakes wouldnt be too visable. Your all good!

As far as precut, never tried it.

Instead of tinting the headlights, try this....
http://solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php?t=21365
and while your at it, do this....

I blacked out my headlight housing using that tutorial. But instead of using high heat paint, I used fusion plastic paint. And I didn't buy any sealers to seal it back together. I re-used the adhesive that was already in there. Just cost me like 8 dollars for the paint can and some 1500 grit sand paper. Heres a pic. PM me if you have any questions.
