there's 2 screws located on your OEM shifter. it's at the front of it (facing the engine bay) put your shifter in the "2" position and look at the front of it. once those screws are removed, you'll be able to slide the shift knob up. the shift button will pop out, so be sure to catch it.

the O/D button is simply a 2 wire hook up. you can relocate that anywhere you wish.

is your shift knob a screw on type with threads in it, or is there any screws that hold it on?

no. i mean the shifter that you bought. look inside of it. are there threads?

most shift knobs designed for M/T have threads on them so you can simply "screw" it on your OEM shifter. in YOUR case, you have a A/T, which would obviously pose a problem.

since you bought a M/T knob, are there any holes in it so that you can attach it to your OEM shifter?

if there's no holes in it, you might have to drill some of your own.

there's 3 holes =) at the top before the nob thing.
oh yeah another thing, i know in order for you to drive (example: shifting from park to drive and vice versa..) you have to push in the button on top of the overdrive button, and push on the brake right, so what happens with all that stuff once and IF i can get this nob I bought to work?

to be honest. that knob won't fit.

the gear shift selector can only be moved if you depress that button to put the car in gear, whether it be PARK, REVERSE, or DRIVE.

I've seen some aftermarket A/T knobs with the button and the whole 9 yards, but I don't know if they are compatible with a Solara, though.
