4 Cylinder Solara Questions

Postby JBLSolara » Sun Feb 23, 2003 1:07 am

I just got my Toyota Solara a couple of weeks ago and I had a few questions for you guys. It's a 4 Cylinder Manual, I was just looking for some performance tips or modifications possible on this engine. Perhaps a supercharger??? Also I was wondering if anyone besides extremedimensions has body kits for the Solara. Thanks.

as of right now there is no supercharge for the 4 bangers. and vis racing also carry body kit but they take so god damn long to do things. and if your from another other than california good lucky on your phone bill. they put u on hold forever also. but vis does carry the octane kit.

there's nothing you can really do... the only real options are:
intake (or k&n drop in filter, like most people like here)
exhaust (adds like 1 hp... LOL so it's not even worth it)

do NOT buy those 'mod chips' found on ebay... there's no such thing
that's pretty much it :)
1GR-FE ftw!

What year is it? If it is the 5S-FE, Ripp Mods is working on a Supercharger. Also there are a couple of turbo kits out there for it. You can upgrade the internals, but that would probably get mega expensive. There are several parts out there for the 5S motor, but be ready to drop some cash. AEM is also supposed to be coming out with a Cold Air for our car. Note that I don't actually know too much about the quality of these parts, just that they exist. My first recommendation would be to order a Rear Sway Bar, good struts, and lowering springs. This makes even a slow car feel sporty in the curves. :D

I agree with TadS. As far as engine performance you are limited. But you can increase your overall cars performance by springs/struts/RSB. You can also make it look nice too with a body kit, rims and anything else you desire. If you truely wanted a fast car, then the solara shouldn't be an option, especially not the i4, but you can do some worthwhile mods. :D

I was having oil leak and fuel leak. they didnt install it right. however, i fixed it. there is no turbo lag, in fact, i have better response before turbo kick'in too. i am not trying to make a 4 cylinder monster, i just want it to have as much power as v6 and have fun with the Pssssssssssssssst sound
