Steering wheel shakes when i hit a pebble

i upgrade my 16" stock wheels to the gen2's with 215/50/17 a few weeks back

heres the problem - now while driving..specially while slowing down at a ligt or stop sign - if the roads uneven or theres a pothile/stone in the road my steering wheel moves on its own as thought the wheels changed direction just cuz of the pothole i hit.

did that make sense? this never happened with the 16's..is this cuz i have lower profile tires now?

Makes sense, there is less rubber separating you from the ground so you feel it more.

i noticed this when i put my 18's on, the steering wheel shoots to the left or right at certain spots in the road. i guess its normal. the new tires need to be broken in a bit... i was worried about this untill i realized it keeps happening on the same spots of certain roads.

cool..this was the first updrade on wheels in my entire life (this being my first car)..so never went thru it before.

Are these new tires? Just like everyone indicate, let em' be broken in and then evaluate. There is another least-likely scenario, radian-pull. Sometimes, the belts on the tires aren't broken or worn, but the radial does pull on its own (no alignment problems). Research radial-pull...more than likely it not a scenario that happens to new tires...but more so to slightly used tires. (5-6K miles on them)
