To be honest bro I really dont know how to read the A/F chart. Only thing I remember hearing the guy said to his other workers there was that its 13 something? No idea. But the guy tuning my car said Ive maxed out my Injector and that he couldnt fix it until I get bigger injectors. When it comes to A/F and reading and understanding it..... I have NOOO idea :(

Someone teach me.

gman wrote:Keep it up, oh and 13s for a/f ratio is too high. You should be running in the low 12s at the top of your rpms. Low 13s are ok for low boost low rpms but as boost rises you should get into the 12s and stay there even high 11s at the top.

^^^Dat...what G wrote is absolutely right, I'm tuned to 12.5:1 right now, which after re-reading some posts, I'm going to bring it down to 12:1 just to play it a little safer. But let me take a stab at trying to explain A/F ratio. Our stock compression ratio is 10:1 (correct me if I'm wrong), but when you increase the compression ratio to like 12 or 13:1 (which is a lot), your increasing the amount of pressure in the cylinder and since everyone knows that our engine components aren't all that strong, you'll be replacing engine parts. The trick is to find the right A/F ratio when tuning that gives you the biggest gains, but at the same time is relatively safe. Hope that clears it up a little but I can't explain the ratio itself (12 something of air to 1 fuel...not exactly sure).

These are luxury cars, I wouldn't think one bit of modding mine with a super/turbo charger. I need gas mileage now.

We mod our cars cuz we can...and want

Solara is not a luxury car.

And if you want good gas milage you should have gotten echo or corolla.

Oh yea and supercharger that people have is made by toyota so it's not really modding it's upgrading, if that makes sense.

So a 30,000 dollar car is considered a nice car.. may be not luxury but it sure has a lot of nice features compared to my mustangs. As far as your gas mileage comment, I modded all of my stangs to the point where they got 9-12 mpg... so a solara is a big step up from that.

It doesn't matter who made the supercharger, its modifying the engine from the factory.. even though it is a Toyota part.

I guess I could consider you guys who modify these cars... ricers.

To each his own buddy, to each his own.

Most of the tuning community around where I live is mad eup of V8 domestics liek your GT. So I'm usually hanging with them. One of my best buds drives a Procharged Mach 1 and has mad respect for my car. HAving ridden in my car and our friends 04GT with intake and pulleys, he says mine pulls harder from pretty mch any roll. I like the way the Solara looks more than any Mustang I've ever seen, and that's why I choose to modify and tune it. Sure I could pick up a GT for the same price I got my Solara at, but in no way shape or form would I want to. Nothing makes up for the look on people faces when I pull on cars they never thought I'd stand a chance against. Plus I know and trust Toyotas to hold up, and they're great cars.

So Mr. Mustang, I have respect for any other car out there, and my buddys who tune cars like your mustangs around here have respect for my car. I can and will give a nod to anybodys desire to tune any car they chose, and I don't understand why you can't either. So al that considered I'm going to give you a nice big fubar-beyond-fubar-in-a-lunar-fubar off for calling me a ricer. Have a nice day douche.

LOL- Chris go easy man. I haven't looked or posted here in some time but man I had to jump on this. My Camry can run stride for stride with a
new GT ( not from a stop mind you ) and still return 28 mpg on the highway setting my cruise. Keep the energy positive. A poster like that is just looking for a reaction or is pretty closed-minded. Have fun and represent the Sol/Cam community with a silver tongue.

Heh, good call bro, I was just kinda steamin when I wrote that.

Not bad numbers at all! I don't remember if you have JP headers and exhaust. If not see what you could do about getting it and that will free up some more HP for you. I notice your dyno sheet had A/F ratio to MPH. Is there a way you can get them to print out A/F to RPM?

"tabasco" dyno'd around 240 something on a Mustang Dyno with 6psi s/c. Mustang Dynos usually puts out 10 to 15 percent less HP to the wheels compared to Dyno Jet machines.

I'd like to help you squeeze out more HP. Keep in touch.

Thats awsome dat. 243hp to the wheels is very good expecially for a solara since we have no aftermarket support. As far as understanding the air/fuel mixtures. Think of it as a ratio. I would guess you would want the similar ratio to the stock form but obviously with increased fuel and air that fits your application. But dont quote me on that. Talk to some of the other guys that are up in your league. Im sure the can elaborate much better than i can. But too much fuel/air can cause parts to fail faster. So be careful. Did you upgrade your MAF sensor?

On a side note about modifying solaras or for any car in that matter, comes down to you can modify any car. Its just what you like. Yeah the man purpose of a solara is for getting to point a and b and it is a two door family car, but they did make a trd solara which means toyota had some other intentions for the solara at one time. But no matter what car you have there will always be someone who has a faster car. Im sure there are a dozen solaras on this site the can take your modified mustangs. Ive even seen a plenty of civics take mustangs.

Thank you guys. The cars fun to drive and I get mock on allot since its a FWD family car. I couldnt have done it without your guys support. My car is running lean due to maxed out stock injector or soemthing so Im having to run back to 4 psi for the time being untuned until I get paid in 2 weeks.
