K&N Reusable Air Filter Help with gas mileage?

I don't have a K&N performance air filther on my car yet but they should give you better gas milage since there is less restriction on the intake system with the K&N filther installed.

The biggest factor in determining gas milages are your driving habits. My car seldom hits more than 3000 rpm during driving. My car most often goes only 2500 rpm while I am driving.

Obeying speed limit is not only safe but it can also help with getting better gas milages. I know sometimes that obeying speed limit is not the safest choice, especially if you have to pass somebody quick.

not really. i mean it probably does but its not at all noticeable. these hav ebeen many posts here regarding that. do a search.

the main change i noticed was the engine noise - its a lot more throatier.

you can forget about geting more power or gas milage (unless ur current air fillter is full of poop!)

When I remove the air filther box, should there be a sound filther in there as well? I remember some members here saying that they removed it while installing their K&N performance air filther.

How much should one cost? around $40.00?

open the box by unclipping the clips and u'll c the air filter. thts it.

autozone sells it for $45 i believe.

I think he's refering to the sound dampener. I'm pretty sure someone with this filter has done it. I have a TRD Filter but I'm not interested in sound yet.

will the car's engine get damaged if I remove the sound dampener? I plan on installing the K&N performance air filther sometime soon.

Im pretty sure the sound dampener just muffles the "suck"

Mmm, suck. It's been my experience that the sucking itself will muffle most sound.

All lamentations on my lackluster love life aside, I'll gladly vouch for the K&N filter. If nothing else, it pays for itself in the long run if you plan on keeping your car "until it runs into the ground", as it were. The freer-breathing qualities of the filter will give your engine more access to its power, across a broader torque range than a stock filter would. I actually prefer the K&N over these $200 CAI units, as the price ($40) for the performance (estimated 2-3hp, and a larger power band) is MUCH better (versus over $200 for 6-7hp). It also sounds sexy, like when you're leaving the parking lot an hour and a half into your prom night. But I digress. You will also get a slightly better gas mileage, though the actual numbers from my experience seem to only equate to another 20-25 miles on the same amount of gas in a full tank. But hey, gas is gas.

When you say that and are referring to that white containter connected to the snorkel. . . Than no it won't damage your engine

There are 2 resonators in the stock air delivery system. The black one between the MAF and throttle body and the big white one sort of under the filter box, remove the wheel well liner for easy access.

I had both of them removed and a K&N drop in. A little louder intake noise but not much, no affect on fuel ecomomy.

I got 26 mpg HW and 18-21 City, using BP 93 & SAE 30 oil.
