there are a few models that have the dvd and screen built in, some to meniton are the new alpine, kenwood excelon and pioneer to name a few. Pretty much are all easy to install, alpine with their safety switching can be bothersome if you want to drive around and still have video up on the screen.

Alpine safety switch is easy to bypass, I just added a small switch on mine. Check out my pics to see my alpine monitor! CD with DSP is underneath, fits perfect in the double din space!

this is something different: buy a portable DVD player, then install an FM modulator with RCA phone plug. Think about it, u spend $$$$$$$$$$$$$ on something u leave under the heat of the sun. Just a suggestion.

Hey Solara1, that Alpine looks pretty sweet. But does the display automatically come up even if you just want to play a CD? How much did you spend? Installation? Thanks guys

The safety display comes up only when you want to go under an AUX video function which I bypass using a toggle swich.

As for playing a CD, you still see the monitor which diplays the tracks, EQ, Titles, and functions of the DSP (Digital Sound Processor) which comes with AC-3 or Dolby Digital.

The monitor cost me around $800 bucks a while back when I was working at Good Guys ( Car Audio Department ). 8)
