Im (my tires) rubbing for some reason.

Ok, I have had my konig imagines for two years now. During Spring Break(mar 13-18 or something) I got a flat. I went to this place and I got the same size tire. It was the front passenger wheel. I got my tires rotated last oil change and its now on the rear passenger back, for some reason it rubs now. I am lowered on teins but I honestly have no idea what offset I have. Is it something that has to do with my struts going bad or can I just rotate the tires again and make sure this one is up front. (when it was up front it was fine) or do I need to get an alignment, balancing to stop it?

Tires of the same size and different brands sometimes have slightly different shapes, where one rubs and one doesnt. That tire might bubble out more, or have a slightly wider "lip" on it.

Rear is definitly more prone to rubbing than the front is, so if it doesnt rub in the front, it can rub on the rear.

That tire/offset combination can rub on the rear without rubbin on the front.

so i should just go back and rotate them again to where that tire is up front?

There are other solutions, but the easiest solution would be to rotate the two tires with most tread left to the front (Your new tire being one of them).

Beingthat we steer and put power to the ground with the front tires, the front wears down faster than the back, which is the whole reason for rotating, so maybe in the end all 4 will run out at about the same time.

i rarely make hard turns and ever since its been rubbing ive been driving extra careful but what exactly are the "bad things" abour rubbing? this may be a stupid question but i guess i could say im "stupid" when it comes to cars and how they work.

^^well, if it is rubbing the fender, then the tire sidewall may become damaged ie: punctured/sliced. It will eventually wear down the tire and make it physically unstable. Not to mention the fact that any tire shop that notices this will probably give you a hard time if you have a road hazard claim.

Rubbing on the strut would be similar but probably could loosen the strut mount as well from the vibration and movement.

I will be shaving my rear fenders this week...hopefully I can post some results and feedback.

Turns wont matter if your rear is rubbing, since the rear tires dont turn anyways.

Rubbing also adds to rotation friction, which means your tires are less likely to accelerate and more likely to slow down.

Friction also builds heat, which isnt good.

If its +35 or lower, its probably rubbing the fender, if its +40 or higher, its probably rubbing the strut.

just roll the rear fenders and problem is solved brotha..
i had those exact rims before and mine rubbed a lot and that was with out a drop. so i had to roll the fenders asap once it was dropped.

Then its probably rubbing the strut.

Check the back when your parked, see what its touching.


if its rubbing the strut, you can rotate it back to the front, OR get some 2mm spacers.

Rotating back is probably the better solution (Like I said before, rotate the two with the highest tread left to the front).
