megan headers?

Postby PhreakdOut » Fri Apr 07, 2006 3:08 pm

Whoa, thanks for the props. I feel like someone just handed me the Oscar. LOL

It's just my job. I've been in exhaust design for 16 years this month and have one patent under my belt. By no means do I consider myself an expert. (You should see the guys I work with that have multiple PhDs in Physics, Mechanical Engineering , etc.) When they get crazy, slide rules and pocket protectors start flying and I run like hell.

Honestly, I'd be glad to help out. Anything I don't know, I certainly can get support from people who do. (Including Toyota Design in Japan)

Just holla at me and we can get a hold of Megan.

If anyone would be willing to send me some parts so I could review them, I'd be glad to have the AE-Geeks look at it and help come up with a solution.

It would take about a week then I'd ship them back.

Postby JMSinMaryland » Sat Apr 08, 2006 6:06 am

Phreaked,
Maybe you can go into work on your offtime and design and make a limited run? Your explanation took the words right out of my mouth. I concur 100% . Jon.

Yeah "PhreakedOut" you should develop your own headers and Y-pipe for the Solara.
Yeah they should send you a set for you guys to examine them.

I haven't heard anything. Did anyone contact Megan? Does anyone have anything for me to look at?

I'd be glad to help out but I don't want to start leading this project. Someone has already done that ground work.

(As for me doing side work ... ) I've thought about it. Just need the capital. I've got a contact in Taiwan that does awesome production. (Very high quality.) Having it produced here costs too much. (You guys are all too cheap anyway! LOL - Just kidding)

It makes you wonder. You guys are most of the way there. Just "Git 'er done!!" No reason to stall out now.

I need this finished so we can start working on a set for the Gen2!

Sorry guys, I totally forgot about this.

I talked to my rep at Megan Racing and he doesn't know many details on these parts yet. Nothing about specs or pricing. What he told me is they are making 2 parts, headers and a cat-back exhaust. They are scheduled to arrive early to mid June. We won't know much more until they actually arrive.

... or you guys could've just asked me!!

I just got the 4th set installed this weekend and it's still blowing the rear bank. I've told them time and time again about it, but something just isn't lining up right. I went to a dyno and with the charger, y, headers, catback, and intake put down 201 hp/180ft lbs, but the gasket for the rear bank blew in 4 places. I'll have pics and possibly a video or two shortly.

They're coming off my car and going back to megan in 2 weeks... hopefully the next cut will be the final. I'm getting a little frustrated driving with all the rattles and hisses.

If they don't fix the gasket problem, I won't be supporting the sale.
