sideview mirror damaged in accident...need your help!

I have a 2000 Solara, and I backed into a pole and it broke the driver's sideview mirror. The part that the mirror screws onto (a metal plate in the door) was also bent pretty badly which is preventing the window from rolling up properly and the door from closing. So it appears this plate, or possibly the whole door needs to be replaced. Does anyone know what this "plate" is called, if it can be replaced and where to find one??

Thanks

If it is not bent up too badly, take 2 pieces of wood, clamp them down on each side of the metal plate. Leave yourself some room at one end to pry the plate. The plate is a pretty soft metal. It should bend back fairly easy and the wood should help maintain its shape without warping it too bad. Thats the way I did it. It made a tighter seal for the window and it stopped whisling all the time. Hope that helps. If you don't understand what i'm talking about, PM me and I will take some pictures or draw a diagram. Thanks for the suggestion! When I took it to the repair shop, the guy took a mallet and banged it really hard for a while. I think it helped a little, but its still really bent. Not sure how fixable it is. Do you know if that metal piece if removeable or if I can get a replacement?

you can buy a whole new power mirror with all the parts for around 50 bucks. we did it for my mom's avalon. only problem is ull have to get it painted which should run you around 60-70. still not bad compared to paying 250+ at the dealer. search toyota junkyard on google.

I bought the new mirror for $158 from the dealer already painted. However, the problem is with the metal part on the door where the mirror screws onto.

well in the avalon, the metal plate was part of the mirror assembly. is the metal on your door damaged? can you take it off? if so, its part of the mirror assembly and not the door
