Is it possible to use H4 buld for backup lights?

I remember reading about using headlight bulbs for reverse lights somewhere. I was just thinking if possible, could I use the low beam as the backup lights and have the highbeam controled by a switch. I'm just tired of getting high beamed by people behind me. I'm just curious :)

LMAO I love that thought! Even with 20% tint and auto-dimming rearview, high-beams are still annoying as hell to me (but then again I also have the occasional light sensitivity).

Does anybody have any input (yeah, free bump) on how to have it work? It's not like I could take the reflective side of a windshield screen and angle it just right in the back windows anymore... LMAO good times.

i was just thinking of mounting a huge spotlight on my roof that faces the back. i'd casually turn it on when bastards with their high beams are in back of me, and i'd blind them into oblivion causing them to crash into the median/other cars/siderails/various pedestrians.

until then, i usually blaze up a cigarette and flick it on their windshield. 20 points if their windows are down and you manage to get it in the cab....

guys i was kiddin'... :p

seriously though, high beams are a bitch. one trick if found is that if you flip your mirror down it casts the glare away from your eyes. check your rearview mirror; there's a tab at the bottom. push it, and no more high glare in your eye! viola

I have auto-dimming AND tint, but it's still bright as hell sometimes (again, I also have light sensitivity). If your car's windshield washer nozzles are high, you might want to try washing your windows... Some guy was going ridicoulously slow in the diamond lane (50MPH) and he did it to me once when I was flashing the high beams and sprayed it all over my car.

Also if you don't believe in smoking in your car (my last car didn't get as pampered as this one), you might want to go to the grocery store, buy a few things of dog food with plastic containers (Cesar?), then open it and hurl it at the car.... Keep a few napkins handy, though. This was inspired by my dad who was driving home at 1 in the morning with his dog in the car with a guy hassling him the entire way (tailgating, honking, etc.), except he just hurled unopened steel cans of dog food at him.

Code: Select all
Cigarette:                                  20    PTS
Flicking a booger:                          50    PTS
Spitting:                                   50    PTS
Plastic dog food:                           100   PTS
Metal dog food:                             1000  PTS
H4 BULB:                                    5000  PTS
Jackin' off or women's own "high beams":    10000 PTS + me flying over to high five you (with the opposite hand, of course, but the women have to "high beam" me too :-D )

HID

Postby NeFaRiOuS_SLE » Sat May 13, 2006 12:05 am

HID? You're looking at a lot of wear and tear, because HID is meant to be continuously on for long periods of time, and flashing it dramatically reduces bulb life, that's why even top-end lux cars usually have Halogen high-beams.

Last night I got stuck behind some POS oldsmobile that for some reason or another was driving with their reverse lights on. Even with the stock bulb it was annoying.

I just bought some regular hyper white bulbs so there was no modification or heat issues involved. I'm still happy and the results are still priceless.
