Toasted 5sfe

If you really wanted to get into a swap... there is a GRAT possibility that your transmission will bolt up.

Toyota has a tendency to use the same mounting pattern on most of their engines and transmissions. after roughly 1993/94, they updated the bellhousings on most the transmissions to have the proper bolt pattern to connect to all their available engines.

5sfe's vary from different vehicles. I've dealt with them from celica's and MR2's and they both needed minor modifications to fit my Camry. You'll also need to swap over a lot of sensors and probably the manifolds themselves.

I'll buy the solara off of you for $700 :-) you can make a 100 profit without even touching it ;)

Lol, wow a bidding war already started on my broken down car, and I don't even have it yet. Actually guys I would like to keep it myself. It has awesome lines and with gas prices the way they are it's really a blessing to a college kid like me. I'm just trying to find a cost efficent way to fix it as I am a college kid so i'm of nessacity broke. Thanks for all the info so far you guys really are true toyota gurus (especially TurboSolara) and you're super helpful, unlike some of the other messages boards out there.

^And then you can buy an 88 Camry or 90 Corolla. They're reliable AND very gas efficient :-)
