crap!!!... HELP! ASAP!
okay so here goes.
I was workin on the lara like usual.. and i was trying to change the license plate lights , so i got them out but the connectin was loose, so used a screwdrived to make the metal thingys closer so the bulb could clamp on better. after that, suddenly my taillights went out, including the license plate light bulbs.
BUT. my headlights were still ON.
so i had my bro step on the brakes for me and the taillights turned on, but when the headlight switch is on, the lights dont turn on. I found out the bulb is a 3157 (which is dual-filament). so i thought maybe it was just the bulb that was messed up, but so i got new bulbs for the brake/parking lights in the rear as well as new license plate bulbs, guess what.
They still do not work (still dont turn on). the brake lights/rear parking lights only turn on when i step on the brake, otherwise, if my headlight switch is in the on position, they will NOT turn on. so yeah the people at the Toyota dealership said maybe it's just the bulb (which i found out, it was not.. given that i BOUGHT new bulbs after this incident) .. or it could be a fuse , which is not true because i chekced all the fuses, nothing popped or burned out. Lastly, the people at AUtozone said it might be because of a short in the wiring? which they said can run up to 100 bucks to replace? and at the toyota dealership including labor costs, it would be about 200 something?? do you guys know exactly what might be wrong with my car? ... or?? anything? please help!!! any response is appreciated.
because I know this is just a ticket/accident waiting to happen as i drive this car at night, people who are folowing me in the rear, will NOT see my car cuz the lights wont turn on, so i need this fixed as soon as possible. thanks you guys, and help/response is really appreciated.
