Custom Grill

Custom Grill

Postby TadS » Sat Mar 01, 2003 9:34 am

I realize that there have been several post about the making of custom grills, but mine is of a slightly different ilk. I would like to devise a black mesh grill similar to that of an Altezza. This would be shaped into the stock grill, similar to what Tito has done but with the center bar removed. I feel that gutter guard type mesh, although good for overlays, will not be strong enough for this project. Basically this mesh must be formable, yet sturdy, able to hold a good coat of paint, and hopefully mimic the cut out pattern found on the Altezza. If anyone can point me is the right direction that would be super cool! 8) I have about 2 weeks to gather parts, so speed of acquisition isn’t that important.
Thanks!

For reference I would like too do something like this:

if u check the custom grill thread, danny has made a grill just like that. and he used a reinforcing spray to make it stronger also. it sounds like he has exactly what you're looking for. go read through the thread again, or talk to danny.

Ok, Ill look at it again. I thought he used some fiber glass or something :-? . His grill does look really good, as does yours. I want the all black look, but I don't want to totally rip you guys off :).

EDIT: Never Mind that that. I am stupid. Looks like he did exactly what I am looking too do. I think I was looking at a different grill. Thanks for pointing that out to me :).

Hey TITO, and or Danny. What kind of wire mesh did you guys use? Is there a brand name or anything? Do you have links to places I can buy it?

Thanks guys.

Your grill looks super cool, and your price is very reasonable! However, the main reason I am looking at this is not even just the look, it is more the time invested in it. I am looking forward to spending spring break working on this project :). Seems I have so little time for fun these days and this will be some of it :bday: .

Hey Tads, It's not really that difficult, just be patient and pay attention to detail and it should come out real good.
